The 1000 Calorie Challenge is, in fact, comprised of two challenges which are used together in the program. One of these challenges is in the realm of fitness and the other is in the realm of nutrition.
The first challenge is made up of the workouts. The 1000 Calorie Challenge workouts are not something to be taken lightly. The purpose of these workouts is to burn off 1,000 calories in about an hour. Anyone who knows a little something about fitness will tell you that this is not something which is easy to achieve. In fact, it will probably prove very difficult for you, especially at first.
You will go through a conditioning period on this program but the workouts will always be challenging. You simply can’t burn so many calories in such a short time otherwise.
The second challenge is a nutritional one. While on this program, you will alternate between high calorie days to low calorie ones. At the low end of the spectrum, you will find days in which you should consume a mere 1000 calories. This is very low, which is why you can’t possibly do this on most days. The idea is to get you into a big calorie deficit, the kind that allows you to lose weight very quickly.
There’s no doubt that eating 1,000 calories on any single day is not easy. This is also what makes this program difficult.
When you combine these two challenges you have a clear picture of why the 1000 Calorie Challenge is a tough program. You can and should do this program. However, do it with a clear idea of what’s facing you. Yes, you can burn a lot of body fat. But no, it won’t be easy. Not by a long shot. If this kind of double-challenge appeals to you then, and only then, is this a viable program for you to follow.
The main part of the 1000 Calorie Challenge program are the workouts you do. The idea is to get you to a point where you’re able to perform workouts that burn 1000 calories each. In addition, these workouts should be about an hour long at best so it will fit in the schedule of busy people.
The question is: how do you do such immense workouts? After all, it’s not so easy to burn so many calories in such a short time.
The answer is divided into 4 factors. These are commonly known as R-Quatro and they include:
- Resistance – The amount of weight that you work with
- Rest – How much time you rest between circuits and sets
- Rounds – How many times do you do a specific circuit
- Repetitions – How many reps do you perform during each set.
Basically, the idea is to gradually increase the intensity of each of the 4 R’s. So, you can reduce rest, increase the number of rounds, add more resistance, and do more reps. As you increase all elements of R-Quatro, you can reach a point where you’re workouts are so intense that you burn a considerable amount of energy in them, even 1000 calories.
The 1000 Calorie Challenge workouts are based on circuits. You do a number of strength exercises without any rest between them. This pushes your body into longer and harder exertion. It’s a known fat burning method that a lot of trainers advocate.
Naturally, you may not be fit enough at the moment to do a 1,000 calories workout. This is why the program includes a “conditioning” phase in which you slowly build your fitness level over a period of a number of weeks until you are finally able to carry out the truly calorie expensive workouts.
There is little doubt that these are some of the hardest workouts that you’ll come across. They have to be in order to burn so much calories. This is how you get really fast fat burning results. There is no other way.
